Désirée LaVertu is an accomplished voice teacher, soloist, conductor, and pianist in the Los Angeles area.
I have been teaching voice in Southern California for over 20 years. I teach voice at Occidental College and Idyllwild Arts, and have taught voice at Chapman University and CSU Los Angeles. In addition to teaching in person in my private studio in Pasadena, I teach online lessons as well.
As a classical soprano, I specialize in oratorio repertoire, especially the works of Handel, Bach, and Mozart. I am also a choral conductor, pianist, and pop singer-songwriter.
I help students build consistent technique across breath management, range, flexibility, tone quality, and sustainability. I also support them in developing their expressive potential, selecting the best repertoire for each singer, and providing coaching in style and performance practice.
I work hard to create a positive, safe space for my students so they can be creative and expressive – whether online or in person. Come be your best singing self!
My album “Yellow Morning” is available for streaming on Apple Music and Spotify! A million thank-yous to all the friends and family who encouraged and supported me on this project.
Have a question or want to book a lesson? Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned singer, I’d love to hear from you. Reach out to connect, ask about availability, or learn more about working together—online or in person in Pasadena.
